Aximum is developing solutions that make it possible to limit heat islands in the urban environment in order to lend support to cities adapting to climate change. An urban heat island (UHI) is an increase in temperature in the city with respect to the neighbouring rural or forest areas. The UHI phenomenon is specific to the city and is largely dependent on the weather conditions. The purpose of our solutions is tolocally improve the thermal comfort of users in order to maintain living conditions that are as acceptable as possible during increasingly frequent heat waves. This entails reducing the surface temperature of the road and roof surfaces of industrial and commercial buildings.
Aximum has designed specially-formulated paints so that roads and roofs accumulate less heat, which thus limits the phenomenon of urban heat islands.

The capacity of a material to absorb heat is conditioned in part by the albedo. Albedo, also called solar reflectivity, corresponds to the ratio between the solar energy received and the reflected energy. Paint with the adapted albedo Albetop is specially formulated to limit the accumulation of heat on the road and therefore the phenomenon of Urban Heat Islands (UHI). This water-based paint is particularly recommended for application on streets and pedestrian areas, cycle routes, playgrounds or car parks.
Albetop makes it possible to lower the surface temperature of the ground. The gain can be from 10°C to 15°C, according to the environmental and microclimatic context, with respect to a black bituminous surface in direct sunlight on a hot day, while limiting the restitution of heat at nightfall.
Available in two colour ranges, dynamic and pastel, Albetop is suitable for all environments and makes it possible to revitalise urban areas. This paint is durable, is harsh weather resistant and can be applied on various types of supports for new projects or for renovation. Its formulation makes it possible to avoid affecting the permeability of the support.

The Axiroof roof coating simply and effectively improves the thermal comfort and the energy efficiency of buildings. It is particularly recommended for application on the roofs of industrial and commercial buildings. This is an environmentally-friendly solution thanks to its water-based formulation and its very low content in volatile organic compounds (VOC). Axiroof is quick and easy to implement on the main types of roofs without any substantial rehabilitation works. When it is applied, activity in the building during the works can continue. This coating is a highly interesting solution for roofs where revegetation is not possible or for buildings that are on hold for renovation and overall insulation works.
Axiroof has many advantages:
- Its white colour makes it possible to reflect solar radiation in order to prevent the accumulation of heat on roofs and reduce the temperature on the roof by up to several tens of degrees.
