Road safety diagnosis
Road safety diagnosis
Our teams help you to analyse accident data and site data, in order to identify malfunctions impacting road safety, and to propose sustainable solutions suitable for the site.
Road safety studies are generally initiated by a diagnosis focusing on 3 areas:
- Statistics enable us to establish an inventory of accidents on a network, a section or an intersection. Each event is analysed in order to identify and understand the circumstances of the accident: the malfunction of the existing development, the high risk driving of the user or an erroneous reading of the road equipment.
- Site visits are conducted based on a standardised methodology, ISRI (road safety inspections), in order to identify on site, in the daytime and at night, malfunctions associated with the development, the signage or the behaviour of users.
- The technical diagnosis focuses on ground measurements, traffic data or plans to identify development faults at already existing or future sites
Within the context of our road safety studies, our teams cross reference site usage and accident data with monitoring measures and the geometry of roads made by our carriageway engineering department, in order to establish a complete diagnosis.
RECOMMENDATIONS AND SOLUTIONS PROMOTING SAFER MOBILITY
Solutions and recommendations promote safer mobility:
- Recommendations concerning the geometric redevelopment of a section or an intersection
- Modifications to the operation of a junction with a priority rule or with traffic lights (including proposed traffic light plans)
- Modifications to road staking: markings on a bend or at an intersection, horizontal or vertical signage
- Recommendations on maintenance requirements or the requalification of verges and pedestrian crossings
- Recommendations concerning speed control developments
- Recommendations concerning pedestrian and cycleway developments, as well as shared pedestrian/vehicle streets, etc
Helping you to better understand the challenges of road safety
Each road safety study gives rise to a summary report highlighting the main findings of the diagnosis, based on maps, tables and photographic evidence. Our teams’ services range from simple advice to the organisation of meetings presenting the solutions and various scenarios envisaged depending on the identified road safety challenges.
