How does it work?
An AI* pedestrian sensor is deployed at a pedestrian crossing at a traffic-light junction. The algorithm analyses and calculates the flow of people waiting. Depending on the density, the crossing time is adapted in real time to make it easier for pedestrians to cross. This information is also fed back to the monitoring systems for optimum management of traffic light junctions. Once the crossing is complete, traffic resumes.
Pedestrian crossings at intersections with traffic lights are made safer byadapting crossing times according to the presence and number of pedestrians detected waiting. By taking real needs into account, the system encourages soft modes of transport, without penalising vehicles in the absence of pedestrians, thus helping to reduce polluting emissions.
